The McLaren 750S has been named Performance Car of the Year by Top Gear Magazine at the annual Top Gear Awards. McLaren received the trophy at the event held in London on 26 November.
The award is presented to the winner of Top Gear Magazine’s annual Speed Week event, which gathers the best performance cars of the year, as judged by the magazine, for a week-long road and track test. The 750S was tested at the Navarra circuit in northern Spain before driving with other Speed Week finalists to the picturesque and challenging roads in the Pamplona region.
The 750S was declared a Speed Week winner after impressing Top Gear judges, who were full of praise for the 750S’s road and track capabilities, particularly its tremendous performance, its scintillating feedback and connection with the driver, its engaging character and strong quality.
These performances were the reason for the 750S’s victory, as the writers of Top Gear put it, “There are few cars that touch your senses like the 750S – not because there are vices involved, but simply because the forces coming at you are so otherworldly. It is outrageously quick and agile, communicates so clearly and is so willing to adjust its line and angle of attack to the driver’s input. There is shock and awe, but also fingertip subtlety.” Top Gear Magazine, December 2024
Michael Leiters, Chief Executive Officer, McLaren Automotive: “Many thanks to Top Gear for naming the McLaren 750S Performance Car of the Year. This award recognises its incredible performance and leading supercar credentials. The verdict is also testament to McLaren’s determination to consistently push boundaries and exceed our own exceptional benchmarks in terms of driver excitement and desirability.”
