Lexus will introduce the next-generation battery-electric car in 2026. At the Japan Mobility Show (Tokyo 28 October to 5 November), Lexus will show a first concept car of this model.

The next-generation battery-electric Lexus will have a revolutionary modular body structure, a drastically modified production method and a completely revamped software platform. In October, Lexus will show a first concept car at the Japan Mobility Show, where this approach has been further developed.

Lexus Showcase

Takashi Watanabe, President of Lexus International, announced the unveiling at the Lexus Showcase in Japan on 15 and 16 September. At the event, Watanabe showcased Lexus’ new model line-up that meets the diverse needs of customers around the world, including the Europe-focused Lexus LBX. He also discussed Lexus’ future vision for car production and developments in battery-electric models to achieve a carbon-neutral society.

Pushing boundaries

Since Lexus was founded in 1989, the brand has stuck to a powerful mindset: ‘pushing boundaries’. By constantly challenging conventional notions of luxury cars and consistently offering new technologies and values to its customers. As a luxury lifestyle brand, Lexus remains agile and responsive to customer needs and changing times, and continues its unrelenting efforts to make cars that put a smile on customers’ faces.

Electrification

Lexus will continue its efforts towards a carbon-neutral society, with battery-electric cars as one of the key points. As a carmaker, Lexus will also offer new services and driving pleasure. Lexus is continuously working on refining the driving characteristics that come with a Lexus. This driving experience will naturally continue with battery-electric models and be taken to an even higher level.

DIRECT4 and Steer-by-Wire

Two key technologies Lexus is working on include seamless traction control with the DIRECT4 all-wheel drive system and the Steer-by-Wire system, which provides an intuitive, linear steering feel. Lexus continues to strive for a natural dialogue between driver and car that evokes driving pleasure. In addition, with the RZ Sports Concept, unveiled at the Tokyo Auto Salon in January, Lexus is thinking of new ways to inspire a love of driving and cars, including with battery-electric technologies, as we work towards a carbon-neutral car.

High-quality interiors with new materials

In addition, Lexus takes up the challenge of sustainable initiatives that take into account the natural environment. Without being tied to conventional values of luxury, we will use recycled and man-made materials to create new, high-quality interiors.
