For the true racing enthusiast, it is great news that after the MC12, Maserati has finally made another fully-fledged race car. After all, its trident history is steeped in impressive racing performance. The new MC20 GT2 will not only make the hearts of speedsters beat faster, this is also a joy to drive on the track for the less rebellious road user. Why? Frightening power (722 HP) against controlled handling (less downforce than GT3 cars), low cornering speeds and proper electronic assistance systems like ABS and traction control. Accessibly challenging, but with the contemporary character and refined elegance of a true Maserati.
The revolutionary 3.0-litre V6 Nettuno engine developed in Modena has been further boosted in the MC20 GT2 to deliver the performance expected of a next-gen racecar. When calibrating the Maserati GT2 engine, the driver also has several routes to maximum performance, depending on the track being driven on. That performance is undoubtedly impressive; 722 hp at 7,500 rpm and 821 Nm of torque from 3,000 rpm with a specific output of 210 hp/litre. This resulted directly for a pole position spot during the MC20 GT2’s debut in the Fanatec GT2 European Series in October 2023.
The new Maserati MC20 GT2, like its street equivalent – the MC20 – is an absolute lightweight. This is due to the use of only ultra-light materials, including a carbon fibre monocoque chassis. This method of construction guarantees an optimal weight-to-power ratio and thus a breathtaking track experience.
