Automobili Pininfarina opens an exciting new chapter in its history during Monterey Car Week with the introduction of the world’s first purely electric, open hyper Barchetta – the breathtaking new B95.

The pure electric Hyper Barchetta is a masterpiece of design and technology – the simplicity of its flowing open bodywork contrasts with exquisite technical details to offer a dramatic interpretation of a classic racer, underpinned by pure electric performance.

Automobili Pininfarina’s PURA design philosophy expresses an elegant silhouette and dramatic proportions, as shown by the recently unveiled PURA Vision concept. The principles captured here have been translated for the B95, combining inspiration from iconic classic racing cars with futuristic elements, while remaining true to the PURA philosophy.

B95 will have its world premiere at Monterey Car Week, along with the Battista Edizione Nino Farina hyper GT, which made its debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July, and the recently launched PURA Vision design concept.

Paolo Dellachà, Chief Executive Officer of Automobili Pininfarina: “This is the most exciting chapter of the Automobili Pininfarina story so far – we are taking another big step forward. The introduction of the B95 is the third of three essential building blocks this summer for our brand. First, we introduced the Battista Edizione Nino Farina, an exclusive celebration of Pininfarina’s racing son – also the first Formula 1 world champion.

“The launch of the PURA Vision design concept then unlocked a new design philosophy for all future models of our brand, across a spectrum of different segments. Now our new Barchetta shows how these design principles can be applied – with a retro-futuristic vision that fuses classic motorsport themes with the latest technological innovations, materials and processes.

“B95 delivers the power of Battista yet creates a new dimension of driving experience, redefining the pleasure of motoring. It is the first of a new kind, an object of desire that introduces the thrill of exceptional, electrified performance in a stunning open-top form.”

Building and deliveries of this limited-edition masterpiece will start in 2025, marking the 95th anniversary of Pininfarina SpA. The ‘B’ in the name stands for Barchetta, both elements combined creating the name Automobili Pininfarina B95.

Only ten examples will be made, each carefully put together by Automobili Pininfarina’s design team in Cambiano and individual customers, ensuring complete exclusivity as no two examples will be the same. The stunning B95 example, which will be presented for the first time during Monterey Car Week, was designed by the Automobili Pininfarina design team and was developed together with Pininfarina SpA in Cambiano and handmade by a team of artisans.

Paolo Dellachà: “We will present the exceptional B95 showcar in Monterey. Our collaboration with Pininfarina SpA – a design house with decades of experience in creating unique cars for the world’s most prestigious luxury brands – guarantees exceptional execution quality and we look forward to continuing our close strategic collaboration in the future.”

Design inspired by Pura

The B95’s design is exemplified by an enveloping full-width bodywork that flows into the front wings. The high curved line gives the bodywork a stunning muscular appearance. Inside, it gives a sense of security and comfort while connecting the occupants to their surroundings.

Dave Amantea, Chief Design Officer of Automobili Pininfarina: “Our PURA design philosophy has purity at its heart, a hallmark of the timeless designs of iconic vehicles from Pininfarina’s past. The silhouette of the Barchetta is instantly recognisable, but our task was to turn it into something beautiful. The mix of classic proportions and exquisite details allowed us to create something very special. With B95, we are giving customers the chance to drive a dream – something that will define the brand in the future.”

The Automobili Pininfarina B95 represents a striking interpretation of the body shape of a Barchetta. Its clean, timeless lines contrast with technical details to create a pure, beautiful design. The B95’s footprint is accentuated by the elegant bodywork with open access to the refined interior.

Pronounced wheel arches emphasise the shape and strength of the vehicle, allowing the design team to give additional shape to the connection between the wheel arches and the body. This allows control over the reflections of the bodywork, adding depth and quality to the design.

Seen from above, the PURA design DNA is immediately recognisable. Automobili Pininfarina’s design team defined the cabin space with a circumferential loop that incorporates the seats, adjustable aero screens and domes behind each passenger. From this point of view, there are four clear lines that define the B95 and link it to the PURA Vision concept.

The B95’s open driving experience is enhanced by the world’s first electronically adjustable aero screens. The clear polycarbonate designs, inspired by vintage fighter jets, feature intricately designed and visible aluminium supports and can be raised and lowered by the customer to enhance comfort while maintaining the integrity of the design.

Customers can order customised helmets, in a finish tailored to their chosen B95 specification. With these accessories, drivers can safely experience the B95’s hypercar performance on the road or on the track.

B95: Overview of specifications introduction car

The body of the unique B95 is finished in metallic Bronzo Superga, providing a dramatic contrast to the distinctive Giallo Arneis glossy section at the front and on top of the driver’s cabin, which features Black Gloss ’95’ lettering.

Frequent use of Black Exposed Signature Carbon creates a technical 3D sculptural effect that contrasts with the body’s elegant paintwork. The same contrasting details can also be seen around the carbon fibre splitter at the front and around the aero exhaust at the rear.

The bodywork finish is an impeccable, multi-layer gloss paint that emphasises the B95’s elegant silhouette. Combined with gold metallic flakes for incredible colour depth. By day, the accents appear golden in texture and colour, while at night they take on a bronze hue, giving the appearance of two different colours depending on the time of day.

To complete the exterior, the B95 has new 20″ front / 21″ rear forged aluminium wheels, finished in matt black and contrasting with exposed, matt-polished outer aluminium rims. The centre lock rings are finished in black anodised brushed aluminium, while the brake calipers are Giallo Arneis, matching the exterior accents.

The interior is the epitome of a classic race car and futuristic design, with a dashboard and cabin environment inspired by a concept car, giving occupants a safe and cosy feeling. From the driver’s seat, the expansive dashboard appears to merge into the exterior, with the distinctive lines of the bonnet continuing into the interior, as seen on the PURA Vision design concept.

Together with the carbon fibre dashboard, a floating wing effect is created. The dashboard is upholstered in Tan Sustainable Luxury Leather with custom embossed finish, which contrasts with the anodised brushed black aluminium finish found elsewhere.

The seats, also finished in Tan Sustainable Luxury Leather, are inspired by those of a classic racing car and are designed to curve around the occupant. Both seats are profiled to surround the driver and passenger, providing comfort and protection, with a two-piece design inspired by the seats in the PURA Vision, with unique aluminium inserts. The headrests, with power-welded Pininfarina logos, are finished with a Pied de Poule Houndstooth Luxury Textile, while the seats, door interior and dashboard are finished with black and brown contrast stitching.

There are unlimited options for collectors specifying B95, so each of the 10 examples will be unique.

One of the most striking customised options is the laser-engraved aluminium door plate, located on the outer edges of both doors and easily visible when entering and exiting the car. Finished in anodised black with the customised B95 engraving in white, they add a sense of theatre to getting into the hyper Barchetta.

Andrea Crespi, Chief Technical Officer of Automobili Pininfarina: “The Automobili Pininfarina B95 could have been created simply as an all-electric hyper Barchetta, but we wanted to make it so much more than that. We chose the latest technology to make it a vehicle that people would love to own, but also an exciting place to be. The application of technology to create our adjustable aero screens was inspired by two-wheeled motorsport – making this a ground-breaking road car. This patented new technology provides the pure thrill of open-roof driving, but in comfort, even at the high speeds the B95 can reach.”

The B95 is powered by the same state-of-the-art powertrain that delivers breathtaking performance in the Battista hyper GT, but with a unique tuning for such a unique vehicle. The B95 accelerates from 0-60 km/h in less than 2 seconds and has a top speed of over 300 km/h.

The world’s first pure electric hyper Barchetta has a high-capacity 120-kWh lithium-ion battery that generates a peak power of 1400 kW (1900 hp). The T-shaped battery pack, which is liquid-cooled, is protected by a strong and lightweight carbon-fibre casing and can be recharged with DC fast chargers up to 270kW – for a 20-80% recharge in just 25 minutes.

This power is transmitted to the road via four independent, powerful electric motors – one for each wheel. Five different driving modes make use of Full Torque Vectoring technology to allow the driver to adjust power delivery and handling according to preference and driving conditions.

There is a choice of five driving modes to adjust driving dynamics: Calma, Pura, Energica, Furiosa and Carattere, which are activated via a tactile, sporty dial next to the steering wheel.
